Rajiv Bhatia was born on 9 September 1967 in Amritsar in a Punjabi Hindu family. Rajeev Bhatia had adopted Akshay Kumar after coming into films. Akshay’s father Hari Om Bhatia was an army officer but later retired and became an accountant. Whereas Akshay’s mother was Aruna Bhatia. Akshay has an elder sister Alka Bhatia. Akshay’s mind ran towards sports and his father always supported him. In Anupam Kher’s show, Akshay said that his father was very educated but he did not put pressure on Akshay. Akshay somehow studied till 12th and after listening and understanding a lot, his father sent Akshay to Bangkok to become something.

Akshay Kumar’s struggle from Bangkok to Mumbai

Akshay Kumar belongs to a middle class family and was sent to Bangkok by his father with money from here and there. To survive here, Akshay worked as a waiter in a hotel and used to live with some boys in the servant quarter of the same hotel. Akshay told the story of his struggle in Anupam Kher’s show. Along with his job, Akshay used to learn many techniques like martial arts, Thai kick boxing.

After about 4-5 years, Akshay came to Dhaka, Bangladesh where he worked for some time. After this, he also worked in Kolkata for some time. In an interview given to ANI, Akshay had told that he lived with 24 people in a room in Chandni Chowk, Delhi. In those days, his goal was to earn money by working, for this he had to work hard. In this interview, Akshay also told that sometimes he had to sleep hungry.

After this someone told that there is a lot of money in selling Kundan jewelery around Chandni Chowk to Mohammad Ali Road in Mumbai. Akshay had told in Anupam Kher’s show that he had no goal, he just had to survive. Therefore, he did whatever work came to his hands. After coming to Mumbai, he got a job in which he had to do photo shoots with girls for which he got some money. Akshay also did this work.

Akshay Kumar’s first film

Akshay’s first portfolio was made after working for 18 months with the film industry’s popular photographer Jayesh Seth. In the year 1988, Akshay got a small role in the film Aaj. After this, in the year 1991, Raj N Sippy gave Akshay his first opportunity in the film Saugandh. In the same year, Akshay’s second film Dancer also came but both could not perform well. During that period, 11 of Akshay’s back to back films flopped in 2 to 3 years and Akshay felt that nothing could happen for him here.

In an interview given to ANI, Akshay told that he had prepared to do some more work but before that he had signed films like ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’ and ‘Mohra’ so he had to complete them. Both these films of Akshay were released in the year 1994 and both the films proved to be superhits at the box office. After this, Akshay got work and also awards.

After the hits of ‘Tu Khiladi Main Anari’ and ‘Mohra’, Akshay also gave many hit films. According to reports, Akshay has done around 200 films so far. His hit films include ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’, ‘Suhaag’, ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, ‘Ajnabee’, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, ‘Khiladi’, ‘Aitraaz’, ‘Khiladi 786’, ‘Airlift’, ‘Rowdy’. Many films like ‘Rathod’, ‘Good News’, ‘Garam Masala’, ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ are included. Akshay Kumar is still active in films and over the years he has worked as a romantic, action and comedy actor.
